We know THE DIFFICULTIES IN MAINTAINING THE MATERNAL LANGUAGE at home for those who live abroad

There are tools to create opportunities for the maintenance of language and culture and we offer parents the tools to participate in this dynamic as well. We remember traditional songs, stories, street games, folklore stories, fairy tales, typical recipes and so, the whole family lives the experience of Portuguese as a heritage language.
HOW IT WORKS?
We use social practices that combine linguistic aspects with everyday life
Classes are planned individually or in groups
We take into the account the student’s proficiency and interests, family characteristics and goals
Continuous method of learning through practice
Our method is based on a series of social practices and projects, lasting four to six classes each
Our team is in constant dialogue with families
We offer classes feedback, encourage the use of the language through activities and answer any questions the family might have.

FAQ
My son is already 7 years old. Is there still time?
You are here on our website, looking for information about Portuguese classes as an inheritance language and this is the first step! Congratulations! Working together we will bring Portuguese to your child’s life in a fun and enjoyable way!
My daughter understands Portuguese but doesn't speak. What do I do?
If your daughter understands, she is one step away from speaking! We will create opportunities for her to feel the desire to speak, through games, theater, music and other recreational activities. We will encourage her to use the Portuguese she already knows. And so, joyfully, she will begin to talk without realizing it – and without any pressure!
My son speaks Portuguese but still uses many English words. Is it normal?
Very normal. Using both languages at the same time is called translanguaging. Translanguaging is the act performed by multilingual people to access the different languages they speak, in order to maximize their communicative potential.
We are going to Brazil in a month. Can you teach my son to speak Portuguese?
Yes and no. It is always time to start the process of learning Portuguese as a heritage language, but it is a long process and each child responds in a different way. We do not teach random phrases without context, as our job is to create a bond between the student, the Brazilian culture and the Portuguese language, which does not happen in a month. But we can prepare him for this fun and memorable experience!
Do you literate in Portuguese?
Literacy itself is a unique process. If the child is already literate in English, we will work with this knowledge to do literacy in Portuguese. If she is not literate in English, we can start her with literacy in Portuguese.
I have a 10-month-old baby. How do I make him bilingual?
Speak, sing and play with him in Portuguese. Make Portuguese language and Brazilian culture present in your daily life and check out our “Parents and me” classes. We also provide assistance to families who wish to develop activities and games in Portuguese with their children.
Do I need to take the class with my daughter?
Not necessarily. It depends on your daughter’s age and her familiarity with online classes. Ideally, in the first class you should be present to meet the teacher and understand our methodology. After that, if you think she can be alone: wonderful!
My teenage son doesn't want to communicate in Portuguese. How do I convince him to take classes?
The first step is to take a first class, where he will meet the teacher and our methodology. For this audience, our goal is to create a process that is interesting to them, combining language learning with broadening of general knowledge. We use several technologies (YouTube, TikTok, games, manga, etc.) without leaving aside traditional tools (books, music, arts, etc.).
